Expansion Tank with Cap for 86-91 2.1L Vanagons

This is the expansion tank that is used on an 86-91 Vanagon with the 2.1l waterboxer engine. The ones we sell are made by Meyle and comes with a Blau (German) Cap. I have been installing these for the last four years since the OE VW tanks were discontinued. They hold up well and the only problem I have seen is if you overheat the engine too much the tank can deform, but your engine probably has other problems at this point. The OE tanks were made in Germany and these are made in China, however these are brand new and the OE ones were pushing 25 years old (yup, sitting on the shelf for many, many years). The quality level is very good at this point and I wouldn't hesitate to use one of these on my own personal van. I would also replace the coolant level sensor when I replace the tank. There are two different versions of the sensor which are linked below. Look at the plug that is on yours and order accordingly.
