This is the o-ring for the governor cover that is on the side of the automatic transmission of all Vanagons. The governor cover is the one that is held in place with a clip and the cover is kind of dome shaped. It will also work on the later version of the Bus Automatic Transmission as well as long as it has the same style of transmission as the Vanagon. Usually these were used in 78 and 79 VW Bus.
