Parking Brake Cable/Rod front section Vanagon This is the front section of the parking brake or emergency brake cable. It goes from the handle in the front of the van to the middle of the van and end in a long threaded piece of rod. It has a short section of cable crimped on the front of it and a plastic bushing that is mounted above the gas tank. The front section of cable is only accessible by removing the gas tank on 2wd Vanagons. On the Syncro you can access it from below without having to remove anything. These are aftermarket, but good quality, made in the UK. They are approximately. 5ft long. If you are restoring your van, you want to take a look at this cable as the threaded end is known to become rusty and snap off. Part is number 17 on the chart.
