Rebuilt Power Steering Pump for all Vanagon

This is a rebuilt power steering pump that will work with all Vanagons that have power steering. These are rebuilt by ZF which is the original manufacturer of the pump, but it also has a Bosch sticker on it. So I guess Bosch bought ZF, or something. The price is $225 plus a $50 core charge. Proper fluid and flushing the system: Be sure you change the power steering filter when replacing this and also flush the system with fresh ATF. The Vanagon power steering system actually uses Dexron Mercon Automatic Transmission Fluid III for the power steering fluid instead of standard power steering fluid. Putting power steering fluid in your system will kill the seals and cause problems and leaks in the steering rack. It will void your warranty so please be sure you use the proper fluid. If your old fluid is clear instead of red, then you need to flush the system and install the proper fluid. Flushing is accomplished by just unhooking the return line at the metal pipe that goes to the reservoir, putting on a longer hose that can go into a container, starting the van and filling the reservoir until you see fresh fluid coming out of the return hose into the container. So you flush with new ATF until you see new ATF coming out. Then you just hook things back up as normal and top off the system. It only holds a quart and a half of fluid. Flushing would require just an extra quart or two.
