Clutch kit for 80-91 Vanagons (2wd) (not diesel)

Clutch kit for 80-91 Vanagons (2wd)  Sachs Version.  Also does 76-79 VW Bus. Includes a clutch disc, pressure plate, throw out bearing, pilot bearing, and alignment tool. Always double check your flywheel for smoothness and have it machined if necessary. Also check your clutch actuating rod for straightness as this can also be a source of problems. This is the Sachs version which was OE and installed on the Vanagon from the factory.  However they also used LUK clutch kits from the factory as well and we also have them available for a higher price.  Which is better?  Sachs is fine for most applications.  LUK is heavier duty so if you have an engine conversion or an engine with more horse power I would recommend going with that. Note:  If you have an 83 1.9l waterboxer Vanagon, there were a few months in that year when VW changed the size of the flyweel, clutch disc and pressure plate to a smaller size.  Before 83, and after the clutch was the same, but for some reason they changed the flywheel and the clutch from the beginning of 83 to 3/83.  The smaller size is 215mm and the normal size is 228mm.  So if you have an 83 waterboxer, you should measure the size of your old clutch disc, just to be sure you are ordering the correct one.    If you have any other year from 80-91 you can completely disregard this note.
